This is a descriptive, analytical and scientific work which covers the archaeology of Kopia from the 8th century BC to 4th century AD. It tries to understand the history of glass in the pre indo-roman contact glass manufacturing site of Kopia which produced more variants of coloured bubble free glass and transparent glass than any contemporary glass industry. The work places in context ancient Indian technology, and production and distribution of glass from Kopia throughout South-East Asia. Details of the advanced scientific equipment and state-of-the-art techniques used for analysis are included.
