Express InterestThis collection of documents contains two sets of letters preserved in the Oriental sections of the National Bibliotheques in Paris and Rome. The first set is the correspondence between the rulers, chieftains, local magnates and merchants, and the French authorities at Mahe. The second set is the correspondence between the missionaries of the Varuppuzha Seminary and the Rajas of Travancore. The material is highly relevant in understanding the economic, political and cultural scenario of Kerala including aspects such as Mysorean inroads, interference of the European mercantalists in local affairs, and missionary activity in erstwhile Travancore.
