This volume is the outcome of an international workshop on ‘Medieval Kerala Mathematics: Historical Relevance and Possibility of Transmission to Europe’ organized jointly by the University of Exeter, UK and the Kerala Council for Historical Research. The papers included here span a wide array of topics ranging from the social and historical contexts of the Kerala school of mathematics and astronomy to issues of transmission and Jesuit conduit. It traces the philosophical and methodological development of mathematics in Kerala as well. The work is enriched by perspectives from Indian and foreign researchers.
