This work gives vivid details of the Malabar region as per the geographical and statistical survey undertaken during 1824 – 1830. The memoir serves the purpose of a pioneer socio-economic survey of the Malabar region, complete with uniform patterns of description regarding its extent, capitals, rivers, hills, mountains, roads, mines, soils, population and climate under different heads. Special attention was given to the preparation of a Register of Villages where the importance of each village is noted.
